Let’s just pretend for the moment that I do not happen to be a female with large, prominent tattoos… If this joke of a column had been written about fat women who choose to wear leggings and crop tops, or black women who wear their hair in dreadlocks, or women who breastfeed in public (three random examples of things I’ve heard called unattractive by my peers recently) there would be OUTRAGE, but because it’s tattoos this shit is allowed?

All right, I knew this was going to happen eventually but rather thought I would make it longer before stabbing at an incorrect button like a drunken orangutan. So I got a very nice ask from that-sarah-is-such-a-cumberbitch saying hello and calling me The Boyfriend of Cara and apologizing for the incoming wave of ranting and inappropriateness and whatnot, but that I’m probably used to it, because. You know The Girl.

And then I hit reply without actually typing anything, and then I panicked and deleted the post and now apparently it’s gone forever, so that’s that. I was going to write cleverly about how I like the title Boyfriend of Cara and how now I’m just going to wander around the house referring to myself in the third person and saying So it has at last come to this in sonorous tones, but I feel like a bit of a tit now so I won’t.

The worst girlfriend in the world. What complete nonsense.

The night of her brother’s wedding, I’d been hitched myself for about a month and was already starting to wonder if I’d chosen poorly. Things had been changing. Life was no longer about Drinking Beer and Having Fun; we had proceeded with unseemly haste into You Need To Make More Money and Not Tonight.

And then, The Girl.

She likes video games, sex, goofy jokes and drinking, with an intensity that rivals (and depending on the day, surpasses) my own. More importantly, for the first time in my life someone loved me just as I was, without reservation or compromise. How could I not know, and be anything less than stunned at my good fortune to have her? How could I feel anything less for her?
